Rhagfyr- December

The unseasonable warm weather has not tricked the bees into activity as the rain has been a sufficient warning for them to stay in their clusters; though a few brave souls have flitted quickly in and out when a beam of sunshine has hit the hive entrance. Perhaps we need some bolder black native bees to dodge between the raindrops.

Talking of which, Robert Jones’ talk about his bee breeding programme for native black bees has triggered a lot of interest amongst local beekeepers on Gower and hopefully the cooperative will be able to play its part in the proposed project to encourage the native black bee to Gower.

Instead of planning for Christmas I have been preparing for the first members’ meeting of the cooperative which will be held in the New Year. Anyone interested in taking part should get in touch with us asap.
